North end trail report

Rec Report North End of the Lake: Mid April

Davis Creek, snow free from a bit beyond the Bench: good training hike. Park at the boat launch (south one), find the trail along the creek to the highway to warm up for the climb. Go slow, stop often if needed

Fry Creek, dry hike in, limited as to how far one could go up the creek last week by reason of ice on trail. Hike down to the beaches on either side of the creek

Hamill Creek Snow still along the entrance, boots required, trail is snow free, cleared to first cable car.

Logging trucks have disappeared, road swept. There is a couple who regularly park at Lost Ledge or Lardeau and make the round trip to Meadow Creek.
Sunday morning is the quietest, followed by Monday and Saturday.
Cycle mirror recommended. Get out of the way of traffic

Gravel- best at this time as gets dusty in the summer
Prettiest and somewhat challenging ride is the Johnson's Landing road. At least 3 character hills- visually the lake turns into a fiord. Bluebirds present. Park at turnoff to Argenta.

The Gravel highway along the River past Meadow Creek, Howser etc- worthwhile as well.

Cross country skiing
Not put your cross country skis away: Meadow Mountain, with a 4x4 you can get to km 5 - lodge access as road was plowed- may have to drive up to lodge to turn around. Packed snow knee deep after that- can use your good skis. Great vistas along the Valley View exposure till km 11.
Will not last long - the Valley View exposure melts at varied times.
